The rare crater map of the America's so called because of the large crater in the middle of South America, 1665 Amsterdam
copperplate engraved by A. Kircher, a Jesuit scientist who founded the museo Kirchenianon in the Collegio Romano in Rome. Published in his great work, the Mundus Subterraneous which covered ocean currents, tides and volcanic activities. The purpose of the map is to show ocean currents and is the first to show the ocean currents of the new world.
