~ RARE and highly decorative "Bay of the West" map of the Western Hemisphere by Cloud Paris in the 1780's.

~ He was a member of the "Academic Royale des Sciences de Rouen".

~ The most interesting feature is the belief that a large bay existed in the Pacific Northwest. The insert map shows the debate between the Bay of the West; a more established view and the North Pacific Archipelago theory that had developed at the time.
