~ He was a member of the "Academic Royale des Sciences de Rouen".

~ The most interesting feature is the belief that a large bay existed in the Pacific Northwest. The insert map shows the debate between the Bay of the West; a more established view and the North Pacific Archipelago theory that had developed at the time.

~ Map shows the exploration of Cook, Magellan and others. Recent Russian discoveries are shown as well.
